Over the past few years my conscious visual attention has been increasingly drawn to instances of linear perspective within relatively ordinary spaces and in the outdoors, starting from my feet, from my eyes, from in between, and continuing past the perceived edges of fields of vision. Geometrical constructions that can be perceived on the ground, along walls and ceilings, in machinery, in fields and forests. So apparent and attractive have these innumerable lines become to me, that I cannot look at any space, or at any person, animal, plant or object within it, without rapidly finding an overall framework of lines holding everything together. In this book we offer a selection of these spaces, a personal cross-section of this observed geometry, of the invisible order of an imagined “ship-shape” world.
